Plum Lips for Autumn

It feels like we've barely had summer, but already autumn trends are being written and spoken about - this season's hot colour is plum. Here are a few great lip colours featuring plummy shades:

From the top left corner, clockwise:

• MAC Lustre lipstick in Plumful; moisturising and semi-sheer, great for a look that's not too in-your-face
• Shu Uemura Gloss Lacquer pot in Irrational Purple; very sheer purple-plum shade, subtle on its own or on top of lipstick
• MAC Viva Glam IV lipstick; slightly metallic, rich colour, full coverage but still relatively easy to wear (and the proceeds go to the MAC Aids fund!)
• NARS lipgloss in Talitha; very pigmented with no shimmer and a thick texture; more of a liquid lipstick
  
• Dior Creme de Gloss in Fig Nectar 641; cushiony, soft lipgloss, a more neutral way to wear a touch of plum (this feels SO good on the lips)
• NARS lipstick in Flair; listed on NARS' website as a sheer lipstick, but in reality intensely pigmented, metallic, and vampy. Slightly drying, but lasts and lasts

I love autumn for the opportunity to wear richer, earthy colours like plum, copper and smoky browns; a plum lip looks fabulous paired with a light wash of pinky blusher, and smudged, possibly metallic brown eyeliner (and lots of mascara of course!).
